When i read the book i couldn’t see what was going on in my head the way that it was written was knid of odd. And another thing i thought that book neer really open a right plot until the ery end and then it finished. If there is goin to be another book i want to read it but i reflect that maybe just putting a few more appealing questions in the begging of the book would help the book.

Would you like a sneak preview of half the book? Ok, then..
“She was wearing a slim Costume National black sheath dress, Prada slingbacks, and the ubiquitous string of pearls around her swanlike neck.”
or
“Mimi looked devastating in a midnight satin Peter Som dress, with her hair in a high chignon, a triple strand of heriloom South Sea pearls…
Rule 1: Mimi permanently looks devastating.
Rule 2: Everyone is amazingly thin and amazingly gorgeous. They can eat junk food like pigs and never gain a pound and their model excellent looks are featured on billboard ad campaigns in Times Square! Yay! This is fantastic for my self confidence. Reading about thin, amazingly gorgeous, rich AND smart people who lead fabulous lives in New York. My 4.0 GPA and and Varsity participation in sports is now seeming measly in comparison. I must be a natural born model and beauty!
This book focuses on rich socialites a la Gossip girls. Half the book is spent describing the fabulous, ravishing outfits and exclusive designers everyone is wearing. This was such a weird combination. Having all this weird vampire stuff thrown in a tale only to be masked and dominated by the incredible shallowness of the main characters.
OK! This is what Melissa De la Cruz does. She writes about fashion and celebrities, her leader bio clearly stated that. She writes chic lit novels about gorgeous people and scornful parties and debutante cat fights. There is a market for this kind of stuff and rumor has it that girls my age like this kind of thing. I represent that percentage that really enjoys reading and prefers a strong plot and tale line to mind numbing description of fashion. That’s me. I honestly do realize that there are few people my age who delight in reading as much as I do and and read as regularly as I do. So I have read a ton of books. I have alot to compare blue bloods to and it’s just not the kind of thing I like. But I know there are lots of people that do, as proven by the enormous popularity of the Gossip girl and the A-list books. I can grudgingly accept this and just not read books like that. I accidently do read them sometimes and that is how this grave review came to exist.
I will admit that but much I did not like the book as a whole, it’s vampire storyline was a unique one for me and I wanted to find out how the tale ends and how the conflict is resolved. I will not be lured into reading the sequel.
Books like this for persons who liked it:
The daugthers of the moon series by Lynne? Ewing (my own interest in this series died at around age 12-13)
That series about candles. Red is for Remembrance. Blue is for whatever. ect.. (I also never read more than the first book)
Alas, at 15 I’m just too ancient and bookishly scornful to read books like this anymore. If I had still been 12-13 I might have liked it.

I recently finished reading another YA series about vampires, and thought I would give this book a rotate. To sum up, I was SHOCKED at the thoughts described in this supposedly YA novel. Sex, drugs, alcohol, and disobedience to parents filled the pages of this less than refined novel. I would never want my teenage daughter to read this and reflect that drugs and alcohol and teenage sex are cool. I am saddened to reflect that girls are reading this and thinking the behavior described is okay. If you are a parent, I would reflect twice about letting your child read this series, or any of this leader’s work.

Was this a book on fashion or vampires, I’m not reasonably sure? After struggling through the first 50 pages, I was so bored I took it back to the store and got my money back. Huge YAWN on this spoiled brat teen society that is all ears on what they wear, what designer marks they are and what snobbish department store they were bought in. A very disappointing book!
