I delight in a excellent paranormal romance and have loved some of Ms. Adair’s previous “Wizard Council” novels. But, the plot of “Black Magic” is not coherent, and is so eccentric and ridiculous as to not be enjoyable. If you like paranormal romance, try Nalini Singh or Sherilyn Kenyon. In addition, the heroine is unreasonable, stupidly hard headed and whiny.
Forget the money I spent on the book, above everything it was a perfect waste of time. I own most of Ms. Adair’s previous books, but will hesitate to buy another. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.

I was looking forwards to this book but sorry to say the heroine Sara ruined it for me. She was rude, illogical, whiny and selfish. I can see why Jack wanted to get as far away from her as possible, its too terrible for the poor guy that the leader didn’t agree, I wish Ms Adair did. Save yourself the money and the time. If you like weak whiny heroines who need to be saved but then complain about it afterward this ones for you.

Geologist and Aequitas warrior Jackson Slater has used magic all his life. Sara Temple rejected and started to dread her magical powers the night of her parents’ deaths. Once deeply in like, now bitter exes, Jack and Sara want nothing more than to never see one another again. But when an very ancient evil threatens not just wizards, but the entire world, the Wizard Council throws Jack and Sara back into each others’ lives by commanding they work together to stop it. Past wounds threaten to ruin their investigation, but Sara and Jack learn that their like has never really died. Can they heal the wounds of their past to have a future together? Or will the evil they face ruin Jack, Sara, and everything they like before they have a chance to find out?
The classic tale of excellent versus evil gets an inventive new spin in the dark and treacherous Black Magic. Having never read any of Cherry Adair’s books, I was excited to adventure into the world of Aequitas and Omnivatics and Ms. Adair doesn’t hold back from building her terrible guys very terrible indeed. As for our protagonists, I adored Jack. He’s sexy as hell and just a touch grouchy, which really managed to add to his appeal (bravo, Ms. Adair). I reasonably liked Sara as well, though at times I admit I wanted to shake her for not being willing to listen to Jack when it came to people who were obviously untrustworthy. Though Ms. Adair tried to clarify why said people had Sara’s trust, it was a matter of tell more than show, so that part of the tale made me a bit unsympathetic towards Sara. Still, when the excellent kind of sparks flew between Sara and Jack, I loved watching them together. They suffered some dreadful hits in the past and I wanted to see them get their happily ever after together because Ms. Adair made me judge they certainly deserved it. Black Magic is by turns sensual, thrilling, and (when it comes to the terrible guys) just a bit creepy, which made the book all the more appealing. Black Magic was an altogether engaging read and I look forwards to reading more of Ms. Adair’s work.

Black Magic
I wasn’t too sure about how I would like this book because I had never read any of Cherry Adair’s books before but I thought it would be a nice change from some of the paranormal I would normally choose. I ongoing reading and straight away I liked the way everything is clarified in the beginning of the book and gives the background tale and how everything started and then moves into the present day that just gave me a pretty excellent feel about the book. The book is well written and there is plenty of details to go along with the romance, magic and wizardry. Eventhough at times the tale is out there a ways it keeps your attention and is a pretty excellent read and I did delight in it but then again it is a work of fiction and I am kind of expecting things to be out there a bit and not the norm. I was able to get lost in a excellent tale and forget about my long day and that is one of the reasons I like to read so much. I reflect that Black Magic is the first in a new series and the next one will be Treacherous Magic.
