I bought this book because I need it for my biochemistry class. The book itself isn’t terrible. It gave detail of how biological systems and compound result affect each additional.

I am a third semester student of veterinary medicine and have as such used Stryer as the requiered reading for my biochem course. I find the book confusing and hard to overlook. The way chapters are divided do not make much sense. Espcially the devision of the DNA parts. The language is also to some extent intricate particullary for one to whom english is not the main language. The facinating small anecdotes and what not about digitalis and Benjamin Franklin could just aswell have been notes insted of a part of the text. In genral a confusing book.

This book is fine for understanding the all-purpose picture, but it doesn’t get detailed enough, it is better than some books though. Try Voet’s Biochemistry, unless you are one of persons biology people who can’t know things through the concepts of physics and chemistry. In that case you should find an simpler theme that doesn’t deal with rigorus literary topics.

Well it’s a dull book but biochemistry isn’t the most appealing thing to read on your free time. The book is in excellent condition and came quickly.
