LOVED THIS BOOK! I WAS NOT AT ALL DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS INSTALLMENT OF THE GRANT COUNTY SERIES. SHOCKING, UNBELIEVABLE AND CRAZY ENDING, I AM STILL REELING AND IT HAS BEEN OVER A WEEK SINCE I FINISHED IT!

I haven’t even read this book yet (I have read and loved the additional books in this series and gave the novel 4 stars b/c I have no doubt it is AT LEAST worthy of 4 stars) but I was compelled to write this after reading the reviews and hear reader after reader WHINE about the ending and how they will NEVER read Ms. Slaughter’s books again. Come on people! Your rantings have made an image in my mind of you all throwing these massive fits with your hands in fists, faces red, jumping up & down screaming “but that’s not how it should have finished” – just like a kid when he/she doesn’t get his/her way. And, finally, could reviewers PLEASE STOP RUINING THE ENDING for persons who haven’t read the novel yet!! Now, THAT’S annoying – and much more worthy of a “fit” than not liking how the leader chose to end her book. Grow up people.

In Grant County, Georgia, pediatrician Dr. Sara Linton is despondent over the death of her young uncomplaining Jimmy Powell, but further stunned when his parents, her friends, sue her for malpractice wrongful death suit. Sadly, the reasons held against her were things she did out of friendship because the scenario was Jimmy was dying with no chance to be saved.
Three days before Sara’s life was opened up for the vultures to pick at, her spouse Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver learns one of his detectives Lena Adams was involved in an explosion that killed a woman in Reese, Georgia. But, Lena left the hospital lacking telling anyone she was leaving. Jeffrey and Sara head to Reese to peel away the layers and soon connect a thriving methamphetamine business with a local white supremacy group, but that knowledge leaves both their lives in danger.
BEYOND REACH opens with the devastating malpractice suit that grips the audience, but quickly switches gear to the Reese scenario where a detective has gone missing and meth is a way of life. The insight into how meth addiction is destroying rural families is stunning. The incredible ending ties everything back together, as this may be Karin Slaughter’s best medical-police procedural crime thriller to date.

Really the ending made the book for me!! But the reader really should have read the previous books with these characters or it will just not have the impact.
Now I can hardly wait for Ms. Slaughters’ follow up!

I don’t know what some readers are complaining about. This book had to end the way it did, heartrending though it was. I loved this book immensely and can’t wait until the next volume in this series is unrestricted. This book was, indeed, a fantastic read.
