My spouse and I chose to lose weight, but we didn’t want to give up cooking at home. This book has been wonderful. We’ve tried several recipes, and they have all been excellent, filling, and simple. It doesn’t use a lot of weird ingredients, but mainly focuses on lean meats and smaller serving sizes. Eating one of the entrees from this book with a lot of vegetables most nights for dinner has been fantastic for us. (I’m trying to eat only 1500 calories a day, and it’s been really simple so far.) We’ve made the pork fajitas, couscous stuffed red peppers, a chili with cornbread topping, and the oregano baked chicken. Make sure you pay attention to serving sizes; I really want to try some of their pizza recipes, but I’m not sure 1/8 of a pizza should be considered an entire serving. The only reason I gave it four stars was that I wish it had more pictures.

I have been looking for a cookbook to give me varity for my diet (horrible evil word diet). These help me stay on course and my kids even delight in most of what I cook from here. I would expect this from Betty Crocker loved her ancient full calorie cookbooks. Our favorite recipe so far is the Loaded Baked Potato Cassarole. I have recommended this book to all my friends even the one who don’t need to shed the extra pounds.

This cookbook is a fantastic resource! I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical. Many cookbooks I’ve been looking at lately have recipes that are NOT predictable fare and meals my family tree would never eat. The 300 Calorie Cookbook, but, is not at all like that. When I get a new cookbook, I scan through it and mark the recipes I want to try. While doing that with this book, I had to stop because there were just too many that sounded simple and tasty, and as I ongoing cooking, I establish that they were indeed very tasty! This is not a normal “diet” cookbook. The food I prepared was so excellent and my family tree loved it. Best of all, they were low calorie so I could really delight in them.
I highly recommend this book as a staple in your kitchen.

I have never been so pleased with a cookbook than I am with the 300 Calorie Cookbook. What gets me is how tasty everything in this cookbook is. The ONLY complaint I have (and its not just this cookbook, but most cookbooks) is that there is no way of knowing what a serving size is (is it a cup? is it an ounce?). Since I have to watch my calorie intake, I usually just make the “Dinner for two” meals so I can just apportion it evenly in half and I know how much I’m really eating. THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!
