I am very disappointed inthe lastest offering from Nora Roberts. All of her novels except her J.D. Robb are pretty much the same now. Same formula 3 woman and three men…..BORING. Bed of Roses not worth the money.

This is the like tale of Emma and Jack; Emma is the second of her four friends to find like. She works as the florist for Vows, the wedding preparation business she is a part of with her three childhood friends. Jack is a close family tree friend, and architect, and he’s known Emma for a significant number of years. Their relationship is a question of: should friends become lovers or not? The romance is cute and the relationship between Emma and Jack is fun, but there is a downside. Because Jack and Emma have a long history together already there is very small drama/conflict in their relationship; the book just kind of goes along and spends more time on the friendship between the girls. The four main characters – Mac, Emma, Parker, and Laurel – are pretty well developed and a huge part of this tale, so it was fun to explore their characters and relationships too. This is a very sweet and romantic book and so was the first, Vision in White. There are absolutely no surprises; you know exactly who will end up with who (even in the next two installments) and the couples are all syrupy and giggly with each additional. It’s nice. Not fantastic writing, but fantastic escape. And a very simple read.

I reflect this was a fantastic ancient fashioned romance. Very traditional ancient friends see each additional in a different light, relationship starts, like blooms. Fantastic dream dates, and fun/passionate sex. I didn’t give it the full ***** because the final “get together” seemed a small rushed considering the over all pace of the book. I would have left out one scene of flower detail, if I could have gotten one more scene with Jack and Emma.

The “huge fight”(there is permanently a huge fight) was ridiculous. Emma was really annoying in my opinion and so was the rest of the quartet. Who sees a name in a horrible mood after knowing before hand is having a horrible day decides to do everything you KNOW will make them uncomfortable, hand out altimatums, yell, don’t give them a chance to say anything or get their bearings, weep, blame them, and place. It didn’t fit the “I’m a common sense woman with brothers who has known you for years and I know you” attitude Emma carried throught the whole book up until then. And look might make you emotional, but it usually doesn’t break your personality. Any woman who can pawn off a date to a family tree member should be able to handle more obvious, less touchy situations better. And finally , Laurel DOES NOT and HAS NOT been written like the type of woman who secretly likes a name and does NOTHING about for over 15 years. Just adage. (And I know I spelled a bunch of stuff incorrect. Sorry)

I couldn’t place this book down. The tale of Emma and Jack is compelling you just want the tale line to continue. A very simple and excellent read.
