If I wanted to know about a life like Bone’s, I could’ve watched COPS. The disfunction on every page was so predictable and classic white-trash.zzzz… It will, I’m sure, be on TV in no time –>something I would watch if nothing else was on. Don’t waste your time and money!

I have two points to make. The first one is that I reflect that Bastard out of Carolina should never have left the editors office. It is too long and many of the paragraphs, indeed whole sections should have been taken out or agreed some sense that it belongs in the book.
My second is that though the last third of the book was packed with emotion, it seems that it is just that: packed with emotion. The first two thirds of this book seem nearly devoid of any emotion relevent to the plot.

This book was very well written, but very, very depressing. I marvel if it was autobiographical — surely a name who had not veteran such a horrible upbringing could have imagined living the life this leader describes. Guaranteed to make you feel terrible!

I read it in four hours. You cannot place it down. The characters are so appealing, likable, and they are so real. Then it ends all incorrect. I do not want to read this leader again.

How can anyone have such a sick mind as tu publish a book that is so dreadfully voyeuristic, so cheeply depressing? Why is the American public so tickled to hear about horror, detress and above all – this is what one reads about by every additional novel written by a female leader these days – child abuse? Why are all these readers so impressed by a book so unsubtle that you just know there must be more complexity than this. The leader has selected and searched the most dreadful details, brought the tale to such a climax of sadness that I was left empty, with no feeling but embarrassment at having not place the book down before the end.
