I read more than 30 pages of this book only because my book group chose it. The leader starts by adage that her spouse (an Ancient Tribute scholar) read (imply vetted) and corrected it for her. Help me! She believes herself too ignorant and dependent to even write her own book.
She takes a very narrow view of biblical tales, reinforcing male dominated interpretations. This is “born-again” drivel.
I, for one, reflect of Eve as the first heroic scientist. I hope she grabbed that fruit, relished the knowledge (even if it was unflattering knowledge) it brought her, and later reflected that while it was hard won, what she had learned was worth it. (If I am unknowingly naked, please let me find out!) Life is more hard when we do not live in ignorance and denial – but, oh, how rich, thought provoking, and exciting it is when we embrace unflattering truths about ourselves, others and the world we live in.
The leader appears to caution us against taking risks, thinking for ourselves, asking for what we want and challenging power. If you are over the age of 20, you know enough about the complexities of life to find this book one-dimensional.

very traditional christian! dull and sad, sad because of it fundamentalism.

this book is misleading in its title and anti-woman. I bought it for use at a women’s church refuge I was leading. Upon opening it I was dismayed to find it was chock full of fundamentalist mysogenist dogma meant to show how women need to remain in their “place” by exemplifying the “sinful behavior” of these women. I promptly returned the book. Buyer beware before purchasing these books.

Our church book study group mistakenly bought this Terrible Girls of the Bible as a replacement for of the one by the additional leader.
While I had fantastic difficulty getting through the first chapter, I am now using this book to improve my understanding of the Bible, and to learn more about very ancient times.
This writer makes-up her own tale lines, and conveniently leaves out parts of chapters and verses that do not fit her tale line. For example, in chapter two, she states that Egypt where Joseph is held as a slave by Potiphar, is a dry hot land. Perhaps she should read just a small earlier in the Bible. In Genesis 13:10, we are told different.
10 Lot looked up and saw that the whole unadorned of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar.
While the ordering of this book was a mistake on the part of the person who ordered the books for us, I judge it is a Godsend for us to read and chat about this book, though I doubt we will really be using the questions at the end of each chapter. As a replacement for we will question questions regarding her inaccurate portrayal of these women and the facts of history.

Our Sunday School used this book for a quarter, and I could hardly wait until we were done. Liz’s humor got to me — one woman in our class said it is hard to read some of the rough, crude things. I like humor, BUT………….her writing turns me off completely. They had the video to go with the book yesterday and she is just too silly for a mature Christian!
