I ordered the product in the beginning of April for help with Spring semester CAD work. I selected a seller in my State of NJ and it took more then 3 weeks to arrive. My book arrived one week before the end of the semester. So my book hasn’t helped me at all.

OK, I have taken two semesters of AutoCAD (2009) although it has been a couple years (and like the reviewer above — these classes only help you get through very simple pre-constructed exercises at the end of each chapter and NOTHING real world). I bought AC 2010 Student Edition and bought this book to get me up to speed to help end a final construction documents studio course before graduation. I just spent three days reading half this book, doing all the step-by-step instructions on how to set up the paper spaces and model space to fit my paper, work with my school printers and plotters. NOT ONE THING is effective…NOT ONE. I went sequentially, rechecked all the set-ups this book advocated and instructed and to no aim. I would rather have spent the last three days with a private tutor — it would have done me more excellent. A terrible reference for a terrible product.

Fantastic book and simple to follow compared to additional reference books for AutoCad. Very detailed w/o confusing a novice. It has detailed step by step directions, but doesn’t confuse you with an overload of information. I concluded my AutoCad certification and have very basic knowledge about the program. Certification took me 3 months and the teacher went very quickly through topics in the class. Having this book and practicing at home is absolutely necessary to master AutoCad. This book is perfect for a name who has small exposure to AutoCad / Engineering tools and wants to take it to the next level. AutoCad is a fun program in all-purpose! I am not very tech savy when it comes to intricate computer programs so this book was perfect for me.

The book on Autocad is very well written for people of various skill levels. I would recommend it to my friends.

I took a 3-day “Fundamentals” class. The class was well taught, but the textbook only contained step-by-step exercises lacking much of an pointer or reference sections. “AutoCAD 2010 For Dummies” really zeroes in on the things that tend to be confusing, gives you the background and warnings you need, and walks you through things where it’s appropriate.
I was getting ready to pay for some extra face time with my original teacher to conquer “Model Space” and “Paper Space”, but this book saved me from having to do that. I like the chatty and humorous tone of all the “Dummies” series books, and this one is no exception.
It has been a huge help.
