Product Description
From an extraordinary new voice in fantasy comes the stunning conclusion to the Farseer trilogy, as FitzChivalry confronts his destiny as the catalyst who holds the fate of the kingdom of the Six Duchies…and the world itself.
King Shrewd is dead at the hands of his son Regal. As is Fitz–or so his enemies and friends judge. But with the help of his allies and his beast magic, he emerges from the grave, deeply scarred in body and soul. The kingdom also teeters toward ruin: Regal has plundered and abandoned the capital, while the rightful heir, Prince Verity, is lost to his mad quest–perhaps to death. Only Verity’s return–or the heir his princess carries–can save the Six Duchies.
But Fitz will not wait. Driven by loss and bitter memories, he undertakes a quest: to kill Regal. The journey casts him into deep waters, as he discovers wild currents of magic within him–currents that will either drown him or make him something more than he was….

Pitty – the first two books had me hanging on the edge of my seat waiting for the third – and what a disappointment it was. I’m sorry Robin, u r an brilliant writer, but why did u have to ruin reasonably possibly one of the best fantasy series ever? I await ur next (reading soon, after Otherland pt 3 – hope that doesn’t go the same way!

The worst book ending I can recall. See my reviews of books 1 and 2 (and PAY ATTENTION!!! Stop at book 1 for the sake of…) – it is with a resigned sense of duty that I write this one. I nearly stopped reading book 2 a couple of times it was so dreadful, but I thought that maybe I was being overly-negative and hey, I already bought book 3 so money’s already lost and may as well see if ancient Hobb can save the tale in the end (remember, the 1st book wasn’t so terrible). WRONG. WRONG. WRONG.
This book deserves 0 stars. Let’s imagine for a moment a very, very bone idle writer. This writer is also very, very arrogant and does not respect her readers’s intelligence (she knows something the reader doesn’t, you see – she knows herself). And let’s suppose this writer used up all of her (rumor has it that) limited talent on one, first book. And hooray for it was a success. But alas the publisher wants to make more money – let’s just write more books! And if we have to change customary characters, settings, behaviors, and even history in order to enable some scant figment of tale to continue to regurgitate itself on the page, well that’s ok.
I WILL NEVER READ ANOTHER ROBIN HOBB BOOK AGAIN.

The first 2 books were brilliant but the leader doesn’t seem to know what fantasy readers want in what is basically escapism. The trials that Fitz goes through as a “kings man” are definatly enough to warrant his “getting the girl” in the end. I was so dissapointed with this ending that I’m certain I will never buy another book by Robin Hobb. She is obviously very talented but I wont spend my hard earned money on the possibility of getting another trilogy that is 2 parts fantasy and one part horror.

Most fantasy books can be described as a name lights and raises a torch in the darkness. Different books, different amount and kind of light. But your spirit soars, because there is light in the darkness so you feel excellent after reading the book. With the Farseer trilogy, there is only darkness in the dark and I felt miserable after reading the books. I am pleased only because additional people thinks these are excellent, so I was able to get rid of them.

This series starts with a well crafted plotline, intriguing character development, and keenly crafted prose. The plot in this third book falls apart. It becomes like a skipping record where events seem to repeat themselves. Nor does any real character development take place in this book. Perhaps, I was most disappointed because an thought that started with so much potential devolved into a third rate hack job. I will NEVER read anything by Hobb again.
