I like ethnic knitting and I like to knit socks. This book is my cup of tea. It has socks from all over the world and the reproductions are wonderful. It’s published by Interweave Press, a reliable publisher that puts out my favorite knitting magazine, Interweave Knits.
My favorite socks are the Alpine Glow from Germany, Nordic Inspiration from Sweden, Brussels Lace from Belgium, and It’s Tea Time from England.
Most all the patterns are for advanced or intermediate knitters and the patterns are charted. I prefer mine written out, but that is a pet peeve. I also thought that some of the socks were rather fleeting. That, but, can easily be remedied by the knitter. If you like ethnic knitting and you delight in knitting socks, this is a fantastic book.

At last a sock knitting book I like. These are socks to wear, not hide under your pants. Fabulous designs where regularly the underneath of the sock is as vital as the upper. This book is a delight from heel to toe. There’s only a couple of patterns I wasn’t fond of, the rest I adore. Here’s to knitting a pair of socks a fortnight, this book will keep me going all year! I like the theme, the socks, the instructions and techniques. This book first appeared on Karen Platt’s book review website.

Gorgeous patterns, brilliant cross-cultural cross section of patterning motifs. Will undoubtedly appeal to veteran sock knitters, and lovers of stranded knitting. This is a book that should be in the serious sock knitter’s library.
