Save your money and sanity. Buy one of the visual quick guides. This book is too point to the lessons on the enclosed dvd and will help small in learning fcp in any additional way than as it relates to the dvd. FCP is building me a bit crazy as there is 9, or more, ways to do every function. Likely cool enough for the pro but for learning I would prefer one or two ways that work – building much less of a learning curve. This book does not really take up that either. Having said all that, if you have no content to ingest (even though you can find it free and leagal online or record your own) you may want this book just because it provides the dvd and the lessons. Of course you can apply what you’ve learned to additional content but not as simple as you would with one of the additional book options.

The book itself is fantastic. But, I bought a Kindle version. It’s a guide based on external media that Amazon DON’T let you download from nowhere. I’m very disappointed!

I like Diana’s writing style. This book flows and is simple to follow, simple to learn. She covers all points excellently.
After stating a point or lesson, questions come to mind and it’s as if she is reading my mind as she goes right on to answer
persons questions. One of the best technical books I’ve read since 2000. Includes lots of clear color shots as she goes.
