Product Description
Do you know what the best feature is in All New Square Foot Farming?
Sure, there are ten new features in this all-new, updated book. Sure, it’s even simpler than it was before. Of course, you don’t have to worry about fertilizer or poor soil ever again because you’ll be growing above the ground.
But, the best feature is that “anyone,” “anywhere” can delight in a Square Foot garden. Children, adults with limited mobility, even perfect novices can achieve spectacular results.
But, let’s get back to the ten improvements. You’re going to like them.
1) New Location – Go your garden closer to your house by eliminating single-row farming. Square Foot Garden needs just “twenty percent” of the space of a traditional garden.
2) New Direction – Locate your garden “on top” of existing soil. Forget about pH soil tests, double-digging (who enjoys that?), or the never-ending soil improvements.
3) New Soil – The new “Mel’s Mix” is the perfect growing mix. Why, we even give you the recipe. Best of all, you can even “buy” the different types of compost needed.
4) New Depth – You only need to prepare a SFG box to a depth of 6 inches! It’s right–the majority of plants renovate just fine when grown at this depth.
5) No Fertilizer – The all new SFG does not need any fertilizer-ever! If you start with the perfect soil mix, then you don’t need to add fertilizer.
6) New Boxes – The new method uses bottomless boxes placed aboveground. We show you how to erect your own (with step-by-step photos).
7) New Aisles – The ideal farming aisle width is about three to four feet. That makes it even simpler to kneel, work, and harvest.
8)New Grids – Prominent and stable grids added to your SFG box help you envision the planting squares and know how to space for maximum harvest.
9)New Seed Saving Thought – The ancient-fashioned way advocates planting many seeds and then thinning the extras (that means pulling them up). The new method means planting a pinch- factually two or three seeds–per planting hole.
10) Tabletop Gardens – The new boxes are so much smaller and lighter (only 6 inches of soil, remember?), you can add a plywood bottom to make them portable.
Of course, that’s not all. We’ve also included simple, simple-to-follow instructions using lots of photos and illustrations. You’re going to like it!

I will not buy his books, so I have nothing to say about it. It is silly not to cultivate native land and buy all this commercial farming stuff. Defeats the purpose a bit, doesn’t it?

I still have not received the book. I placed the order approximately 3 months ago. I will never order another book listed by this distributor due to the lack of follow through even with e-mails.

excellent information thats well laid out in an simple-to-read format. the leader sounds a small too cocky though and basicaly calls the reader an idiot for ever wasting their time farming in the traditional manner and makes no qualms about restating this throughout the entire book. i didnt reflect raised beds or his soil mix were anything too revolutionary though I HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO USE THE METHOD YET so as they say the proof will be in the pudding come this spring

It is a run of the mill farming book becauise the original square foot farming books is so much better. In this book he assumes the gardener is wealthy and they can just go out and buy all of this pre bagged soils and amendments for hundreds of dollars. The first book told us how to make our own soils grow fantastic vegetables with a minimum of store bought materials and how to make your own fertilizers from recycled materials ( manure, garden wastes, coffee grounds etc. with the NPK content). I have had both and kept the original Squarefoot farming book the new book is for rich city folk that can afford to just go out and buy a garden
