Delightful color photographs of cats bring to life familiar characteristics such as sensitive hearing, scampering at the first sign of being stroked and particular eating habits.
Touching, humorous and insightful, this book evokes the difficulties and joys of raising a child who is different and leaves the reader with a sense of the dignity, individuality and potential of people with AS.
This engaging book is an ideal, gentle introduction to the world of AS.

I was ready to buy this book for my son, but after viewing the preview I opted not to buy the book because one page says that AS kids like to be near persons they like but not touched by them. But, MANY, including my son, AS kids have Sensory Integration Disorder issues which make them pine for EXTRA sensory input including but not limited to actions like hugging. This behavior may change as the children mature but such a blanket statement is disturbing, particularly since AS kids are very literal and if I gave this book to my son he would then infer that he does NOT have AS.

I bought it for use with a classroom and establish it hard to clarify the tie- between cats and aspergers. A book that open facts- lacking the cats- would have suited this purpose better. That being said it has excellent information and works well for adults who do not know alot about Aspergers.

As a special education teacher and a cat lover, I certainly agree that cats have autism. The book is cute and a small silly, but certainly nothing profound.

My grandson was shown this book by his parents on the advice of teachers. After they read through it with him (he was 8 at the time) they questioned him did he have any questions….. he looked at them seriously and said “Mum…..Dad….. I’m not a cat!” We laughed about it, but with his literal approach to his situation and life in all-purpose it confused him. And considering his father is a vet I guess my grandson was amazed at the suggestion he had selected up that he was, indeed, a cat.
A excellent book for adults to know, but perhaps not as excellent for the AS child to try and know their situation. Ultimately it was his father’s explanation that all people’s brains are wired and that his brain is wired a small differently which makes him very excellent at some things others are not and vice versa. He now just sees himself as ‘differently wired’ – and not to be flawed for a cat!

This book is not what I expected at all. I thought it would associate cats’ behaviors to symptoms of Asperger Syndrome. But, it is just a book that simply describes the behaviors of people with Asperger Syndrome alongside pictures of cats abstractedly performing similar behaviors. A few of the pictures were even doctored and made to look “cute”. Very weird and reasonably cheap-looking.
