This is a fantastic book – we have been to Maine the last two years – in 2008 in the summer and 2009 in October for the fall foliage. It has alot of fantastic information and is very helpful. Acadia National Park is awesome!

This is my second trip to Acadia, the first time was in childhood. I like to use guidebooks to navigate what is and isn’t necessary to do in the park. This book was wonderful! It broke down every area of the island into sections then suggested restaurants, places to shop, the best sites, hikes, and provided a bit of history along with it. And the pictures were incredible. Highly recommend it. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because he doesn’t chat about fishing in the area at all (besides fishing tours) and my spouse is an avid fisherman so I had to look elsewhere for that information. But I will be buying more of his guidebooks in the future.

This is a handy small book about Acadia. I delight in the leader’s sense of humor and witty writing. It has a lot of useful information, whether you’re completely new to the area or (like me) grew up practically next door. I like that it includes past information (that’s fun to read) as well as practical info for navigating and enjoying the park. The one thing it’s missing is a single perfect map–it gets a small confusing flipping around to find the maps for the various areas. On the additional hand, the official park maps are very excellent and readily available, so the book doesn’t really need on.

Agreed that Acadia does not have a lot of trail markings as you’re driving around, this book was invaluable! We were tickled with Raven’s Cliffs in the Schoodic section of the park, and would never have even known about it lacking this. Thanks James Kaiser!

This is the best guide book that I have ever bought. I can’t wait for my trip. It is chock full of useful information for tourists as well as appealing information about the ecology of the area. The photos are awesome!
