Product Description
“Wild nights are my glory,” the unearthly weirder told them. “I just got caught in a downdraft and blown off course. Let me sit down for a moment, and then I’ll be on my way. Language of ways, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract.”
A tesseract (in case the reader doesn’t know) is a wrinkle in time. To tell more would rob the reader of the enjoyment of Miss L’Engle’s unusual book. A Wrinkle in Time, winner of the Newbery Medal in 1963, is the tale of the adventures in space and time of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin O’Keefe (athlete, student, and one of the most well loved boys in high school). They are in search of Meg’s father, a scientist who disappeared while engaged in secret work for the government on the tesseract problem.

Don’t buy this book unless you want it as a past reference shiny the mores and beliefs of many years ago. It is no longer appropriate.
The tale had potential but it’s mandate to include religious messages as regularly as possible and it’s use of incorrect scientific facts (based on what we judge is right today) makes it confusing and regularly dull for most children and adults.
This is an OLD, OLD book and some of the serious problems it has are because we read it in the here and now but it refers to information that was thought to be right in the long ago past.
My largest problem is it infers that all terrible or evil is female. I state this because anytime something Evil or Terrible happens, it is identified and referred to as “she” or “her”. Like & God are permanently “he”. Looks sexist to me!
I guess the popularity of this book is a direct reflection of a name’s need to constantly cram religion down their children’s throats. If the need is so fantastic, why don’t they write a better book or at least demand this one be edited to right the science errors and eliminate the sexist stuff.

The metadata on this file is garbled so that the leader’s name is sorted by first name rather than last, causing mis-alphabetization on the Kindle home screen on an leader sort. When I attempted to right this error with mobi2mobi, I then learned that this file is .AZW1 (the “dreaded topaz” format). Very unprofessional presentation by a major publisher.

The leader uses this “children’s tale,” as a platform for her liberal religous and social beliefs. The children travel through time and space to a land where people are brainwashed zombies and “huge brother”-in additional words the government-is watching them. During their journey the children learn that Jesus, Buddha and Kermit The Frog are all really the same thing and everyone should hold hands and skip through a meadow of flowers. The thing that bothered me about this tale was that the leader had an agenda and was very transparent about it. To me the tale lacked inventiveness and it was just a voicepiece for this women to air her opinions.
