   I had chosen this book to read for my outside reading material in my English Honors class. The take in of the book seemed a small childish, so that made me a small apprehensive about it at first. But I knew that there had been a movie about this book, and I had seen it a long time ago. I had once heard a name say that the book is permanently better than the movie, so I chose to read it and compare it. It ongoing off very slow, talking about Sara’s life with her father, and how lucky she was to have all this money. I immeadiatley wanted to stop reading after the first few chapters. But in the back of my mind I was permanently adage, “Well, what happens at the end?” “Will it be the same as the movie?” So I chose to keep on reading, trying to find the answers to my questions. What I establish kind of shocked me! The characters and details of the tale were very different. In the book Sara’s father really was dead, while in the movie he was just presumed dead because of his lose of memory due to the war. The war that did not take place in the book. In the movie Becky, Sara’s friend was made out to be the poor, illiterate black servant girl. While in the book, Becky’s racial status was never mentioned. And additional tiny things that caught my attention, like Sara’s age, hair color, and the description of her friends. This left me dissapionted. Because of the books extreme differnces compared to the movie I became bored. But one thing was very vital for me to find out. In the movie Sara is reunited with her father who was persumed dead. Would this take place considering that there was no war, but in it’s place diamond-mines. So once again, I kept on reading. But what I establish only frustrated me more, Sara is never reunited with her father again. He is in fact , dead. But the tale does have a pleased ending. Her father’s friend has been searching everywhere for her so he can care for her since he felt guilty about his friends death. He does find her and welcomes her into his family tree. So Sara is off once again. Living the life of luxury with her mink coats and expensive dolls, as she place behind her the cruel teacher Miss Minchin and the snobby school girls who only liked her for her money. She even leaves behind one of her only friends, the girl alone in the attic, Becky.

   I despised this book, and it’s a classic. Sue me.
   
   Now don’t reflect it’s because I’m too ancient and cynical. I read this book at the age of about nine, and I still despised it. Why? Because Sara Crewe is the Original Mary Sue. She was so sweet and speshul and wonderful and flawless that she made me gag. She never does anything incorrect, anyone who doesn’t like her is TEH EVOL!!!11!!, and everyone else thinks she’s the best thing since silk stockings. Even at such a young age I was revolted by this one-dimensional character who was obviously being held up for our adulation. And I don’t give a damn about it being an ancient novel. It still blows chunks.

   The Small Princess

   This book is about a small girl named, Sara Crewe. She was a very rich small girl and also bratty too. The father was legendary because he was a Captain and he set off for a trip and he sends Sara to a school where she can be learning and studying. when she was sent to the school she fixes up her attitude and turns very nice and caring to one another and to the additional girls in the school. During his journey he had a surprise death on Sara’s eleventh birthday. She soon became poor and had to live in the attic of the school. Now, Miss Minchin, the woman that took care of her, treated her really terribly. She also took Sara’s riches, but she didnt know it belonged to Sara. The father’s friend thought he lost their riches but Sara was just next door to where the father’s friend lived. The father’s friend soon founded out that Sara was there. Sara had a choice to go with the father’s friend or Miss Minchin, of course Sara was smart enouh to pick the father’s friend. All persons days when she was stuck in the attic made her become ery helpful to the poor, so now she gave food to the poor.

   I liked this book because she used to be very bratty and mean to peoples and ever since she lived in the attic of the school she became helpful to the poor. I also liked this book because it also became a movie. The movie was a small different but it was still reasonable to the book. i also liked this book for being a fairy tale like tale. This book also had many graphics to help me know whats going on sometimes.

   I didnt like this book a small because of the death of the father. Ever since the father died Sara ot treated very terribly from Miss Minchin and i dont like people being treated terribly, especially when they dont deserve to be treated like that way. Plus, i dont like how Miss minchin lied to the father’s friend about treating Sara like she was treated very well and how she was supposed to have been treated. Everybody should show every additional person all the respect or loyalty to all peoples, for example to rich or even poor people they should be treated well equaly.

   My favorite part of this book is when the father’s friend finally establish Sara. I was very surprised that he just lived right next to the school and didn’t know that Sara had been stayin there for all this time. I was also glad when Sara selected to live with the father’s friend and not the evil Miss Minchin. plus, i also liked when Sara was treating the poor well and giin them food and charity appliances, that was very nice and helpful. Finally, I liked how she permanently believed in herself een though she had a terrible time she permanently was succesful somehow and accomplished what she had to do to stay alive and wealthy.
