Product Description
Go beyond the yoga revolution to find greater meaning in everyday life. We can do more with this life. We all know it, we all wish for it, but just how to do it—that eludes us. In his new book, A Life Worth Breathing, internationally renowned yoga teacher and spiritual philosopher Max Strom shows us the way. His groundbreaking book reaches past expected dogma in a language that is vital, inspired, and accessible. Strom leads us on a journey of self-discovery as we excavate our past in order to have a better understanding of our present.
According to Max Strom, “We live in dread of terrorism but in truth the most devastating terrorism comes from within us as we sabotage ourselves.” With practical techniques, A Life Worth Breathing offers us a path to transformation with visionary insights on forgiveness, gratitude and self-empowerment. The teachings are rooted in Yoga, Sufism and Eastern philosophy, but make no mistake, this is not just another yoga book of postures, it is a guidebook for living. A Life Worth Breathing teaches us that by healing our past emotional wounds, silencing the inner critic that cripples us, and refining a yoga and breathing practice, we can elevate ourselves from the mindset of a reactionary victim to a privileged level of awareness and empowerment. With these life skills we can achieve our right destiny, that of a fully integrated soul living an authentic life of meaning, success and joy. A life worth living, a life worth breathing. .

After having been a student and assistant of Max’s, I am particularly grateful to now have what feels like a treasure chest of his compiled wisdom and teachings from over the years. It is particularly refreshing to now have an accessible book about Yoga that very clearly demonstrates that Yoga is not a practice of calisthenics or just a “workout” for flexible people. The sooner people at large start to grasp the deeper dimensions and possibilities of even the simplest of Yoga practices, the sooner we will see more people on their mats and the sooner we will see the activation of change in our world. It’s so vital that we admit how the practice of Yoga can permeate every aspect of our lives and Max’s book does an brilliant job of highlighting it’s effects as well as it’s wide and deep reach, in language that everyone can immediately know. I’m grateful that this book is now available and hope it gets into the hands and hearts of the curious everywhere!!!

Max’s new book, “A Life Worth Breathing” is an inspirational view into the power of yoga to transform our lives in this modern age. Max has a wonderful gift for tale-telling that brings the message of the book to life. The simplicity of the book makes it simple to read and well place together, yet it’s message is profound. Max’s book is a wonderful reminder of the power of intention and breath, why we practice, and how the discoveries of the process open us up to our lives. This is a book that will deepen your practice and also provide a framework for living life beyond the yoga mat….being present, mindful, and living with gratitude. This book is a must read for anyone interested in yoga, from a newcomer to an advanced practitioner. I know that I this is a book that I will return to for insight many times in the future. So congratulations, Max, for a wonderful book and thank you for writing it!

This is a handbook with some graceful, strong and healing thoughts. Like the title suggests.
I have taken yoga and breathing classes with the leader of this book, and I can say from my experience that this is like a compilation of the teachings he passed along in the classroom. He possesses the integrity/honesty that can be seen in the people that do what they say and judge in what they do. (An uncommon trait in this world)
It is simple to read and simple to follow.
From personal experience, I know that if you do the exercises in the book and most importantly, you PRACTICE what he calls “ocean breath” you will enter a healing path that will help you be a better you, a stronger you and a more graceful you.
I took his classes in a very hard and hurtful period of my life, and they became the best “therapy” I could ever wish for. Also the yoga made my body and my mind strong again and I learned in the process that I was less judging and a better person, a gentler person, towards myself and others.
To this date, I wish I could walk down Main St. and go to his ancient yoga studio and take my 90 minutes of “sweaty heaven” with him and with the hundreds of students that follow his classes… But at least having the book, gives me the sensation that I can still hear his healing words and his clarity of mind and spirit inspiring my heart and soul once again.
I would recommend this book to anyone, to open their hearts and minds. When I read it I find myself thinking about people that I know and wanting to share certain parts of the book with them. Certainly recommend it to the closest people in my life, the people that I like.
