It’s really obvious that the leader is a Christian.
Now, I don’t have a problem with people of religions.
But I do have a problem when an leader who is supposed to give advice on colleve life says, “You need to know not to place your faith back home.”, “You need to protect your beliefs because they will be challenged reasonably regularly.” (Yes, college is when religious BS stops), “You need to know that successful students have a belief system.”, etc.
Please, this doesn’t belong in college resource section – place this in the f***ing Christian section.

I’m about to start college and my mom saw this book and thought it’d be excellent to get for me. At first, I thought it was fantastic. The tips were amusing and to some extent helpful. Then I ran into a chapter called, “You Need to Know Not to Place Your Faith at Home.”
I’m an Atheist, but I don’t have any problem with religion being discussed in a book, such as this, as long as it’s all-purpose and not alternative out a certain religion. But, it is OBVIOUS that this writer is a Christian, as the entire chapter refers to the Christian god.
I am extremely frustrated with this and find it insulting that I keep being told I “need to have God” in my life to be successful or pleased or whatever. I don’t need propaganda from a damn book about COLLEGE.
I gave it two stars for the amusement factor, but additional than that, this book isn’t worth it. I recommend The Naked Roommate, which is a much better read and MUCH more informative.

I really didn’t delight in this book. While reading it, I nearly felt as if I was being scolded by some tips, and others made me feel nearly stupid. This book is very blunt in what it says; it hides nothing from the reader. In some instances this is fine, but I judge that while giving advice, some things need to said in a nicer manner. This book wasn’t completely horrible, and had some nice tips, but I really didn’t delight in the tone in which the leader wrote.

Unlike many additional reviewers here, I didn’t expect this to be some volumnous guide to college. It’s a cute small book with one sentence long statements about college, studying, college life and so on.
I thought it had lots of fantastic information. I thought it was a really cute book.

I thought this book would just be “fluff” reading but I was pleasantly surprised. It tells it like it is. No sugar coating. It is better a student be prepared for the real world than to go in thinking everyday is going to be bliss.
